Saturday, 14 July 2007, 0930 hrs:
Lucas, Aaron, Shaun, Marcus, Zach, GJ, Karen, Swee, Vivien & Valerie went to a void deck at Paya Lebar to help out some elderly folks.
We stated off by going from table to table and talking to them.
We later encouraged them to working together to complete a puzzle...
You'll be amazed how they can put it all together by themselves!
But that wasn't all......
We were invited by the host to sing them some songs!...
... In Cantonese!!!
We really tried our best, ok... ; )
Even with the song book, we only knew how to sing ONE song in Cantonese - "Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin". So we decided to sing "I Will Survive" and "As Long As You Love Me" in English instead.
They were very supportive. =D
Then, it was time for some grub!
After the people left, we also helped to pack up.
So that was the end of you morning with the elderly folks. It was a tiring, hot and sticky BUT very fruitful morning, as we learnt to share our love and compassion with others, just as Jesus so love us!
kudos to all those volunteers from CCSS who avail themselves to serve others every other Saturday without fail! You have our admiration.
